My Journey
My passion for technology started at an early age when I first took apart an old computer to understand how it worked. This curiosity led me to pursue computer science in college, where I discovered my love for programming and problem-solving.
After graduating, I joined a software development company where I worked on various projects ranging from web applications to embedded systems. During this time, I realized the importance of open-source software and began contributing to projects that aligned with my interests.
Professional Experience
System Administrator - Kalamazoo Flower Group
2023 - Present
Lead development of data analysis tools for administrative applications. I also work closely to cut out ineffeciency from user experiences via automation routes and implementing better engineered user experiences.
Open Source Engineer
2019 - Present
1. Inherited the AnalyzeMFT project and I have been its sole developer since. The project has gone from basically a prototype tool into a fully featured forensics tool written in Python.
2. I created CuteNEC as I was fed up with the EZNEC type interfaces. The application is available for free on Github, and I encourage you to check it ou!
3. In addition to CuteNEC, I have also been working on a pet project called VectorNEC, which as it sounds, is a more heavily vectorized implementation of the NEC library, with a core emphasis on numerical stability and exactness. I have put a lot of emphasis in using the exact mathematical concepts to achieve the precision I hope users will come to expect. This is a very on-going project and is not publically available yet. When complate, version 2 of CuteNEC will leverage this faster library.
PLC and Logic Engineer - PRAB, Inc
2021-2022
Worked on machines of all description, wrote and updated existing PLC logic, helped to rewire malfunctioning machines, installed PLC control systems, motors, sensors, and other hardware on machines
Personal Interests
Outside of work, I'm an active member of the amateur radio community. I enjoy building and experimenting with antennas, which inspired several of my open-source projects. I also contribute to local coding meetups and mentor students interested in technology careers.
In my free time, I explore new programming languages and frameworks, contribute to open-source projects, and write technical articles for community publications. I'm happily married to my wife Jess, and we're proud parents. Balancing family life with my passion for technology keeps me grounded and motivated.
